Bespoke Architectural Metal Fabrication
At ZedWorks, we design, engineer and fabricate architectural metalwork that elevates buildings, landscapes and public environments.
Working across London and the South East, we collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, developers and public bodies to deliver contemporary metal structures with clarity, precision and a calm architectural presence.
From sculptural pavilions to complex stair structures, feature façades and external installations, every piece is shaped around the architecture and the needs of the site — to enhance your project from concept through completion.
Architectural Metal Fabrication for Contemporary Projects
We create bespoke architectural metalwork that integrates seamlessly into its setting — expressive where appropriate, restrained where preferred, always technically rigorous.
Our work spans steel, stainless steel, Corten, aluminium and custom architectural finishes, fabricated with accuracy in our East Sussex workshop.
From lasercut components to large-format assemblies, we deliver metalwork that performs, endures and feels intuitively resolved.
What We Make
We begin by understanding the architectural intent, engineering requirements and site constraints. From there, we shape metalwork that sits naturally within the project, with detailing appropriate for public, commercial or residential use.

Structural & Sculptural Staircases
Architectural steel staircases, helical and spiral forms, balustrades and handrails, engineered for safe installation within complex environments.

Architectural Screens & Façade Elements
Lasercut panels, Corten cladding, structural frames and bespoke façade components designed to complement the building envelope.

Gates, Railings & Threshold Elements
Custom entrance pieces with architectural profiles, lasercut lettering and integrated lighting or signage when required.

Pavilions, Shelters & External Structures
Durable external structures including shelters, canopies, market stalls, outdoor seating, and placemaking installations for public realm projects.
Our Process
Architectural metalwork requires a clear, collaborative and technically confident workflow.
01.
Concept & Early Direction
We review drawings, references, concepts or planning requirements and work with you to define the most appropriate approach, including material selection and build strategy.
02.
Technical Design & Engineering
We develop 3D models, produce fabrication drawings, resolve connection details and coordinate with engineers, architects and contractors.
Prototyping is carried out when needed to test joints, edges and articulated elements.
03.
Fabrication in Our East Sussex Workshop
Our workshop combines modern CNC and laser processes with skilled hand fabrication. Everything is produced to tight tolerances, with quality checks at each stage.
04.
Finishing
Corten, powder coating, blackened steel, galvanizing, patination and raw steel finishes are applied in-house or via trusted partners, ensuring durability and consistency.
05.
Delivery and Installation
We coordinate closely with main contractors and site teams. Installations are carried out by our fitters or collaboratively with the lead contractor, ensuring clean alignment with surrounding materials.

“Who’d have thought, circulation space which is normally so dull… what you’ve done is made the staircase into a work of art. A sculpture in the middle of the building.”

Frequently Asked Questions about Architectural Metal Fabrication
Architectural Metal Fabrication Led by Design
All fabrication takes place in our East Sussex workshop, where designers and fabricators work closely throughout the process. This integrated approach allows us to:
- Resolve complex geometry before fabrication
- Coordinate with architects, engineers and contractors
- Maintain consistency from model to manufacture
- Prototype where required
- Ensure each piece arrives on site ready for installation
The result is architectural metalwork that feels intentional, technically resolved and built to endure.
